Tattoo Aftercare
Tattoo Aftercare
The success of your tattoo is very dependant on how you take care of it. This is how we recommend you take care of your tattoo.
Try to keep the wrapping on as long as possible. We suggest trying to keep it on until the next morning.
1 · Wash your hands with Antibacterial soap
2 · Remove the wrapping and you will see a gooey layer of plasma and ink. This is normal so don’t worry. With your hands only, gently wash off everything until there’s nothing on the skin. Don’t use a cloth or exfoliator. Wash 3 times a day for the next 4 days.
3 · Air dry the tattoo for around 15 minutes. Don’t use a towel since this is too abrasive for your fresh tattoo.
4 · Apply a thin layer of E45 (bought at any pharmacy) and ensure it’s absorbed.
5 · Once the scabs have come off you’ll have some new shiny skin over your tattoo. Now is the time to stop using the E45 onut oil.
General After-care:
-Don’t swim or soak the tattoo for the first 2 weeks.
-Avoid the sun for the first 2 weeks. We also recommend applying sunscreen for the life of the tattoo. It’s also good to moisturise your tattoo for it’s life.
-Do not share after-care products with anyone. Wash your hands before touching or cleaning your tattoo.
-You can take a shower or bath with your tattoo, just don’t soak it.
-Avoid sports or strenuous activity while your tattoo is healing.
-If you do exercise then give your tattoo a wash after. Remember that the benches and equipment in the gym are rarely clean so avoid contact.
-Do not use Zambuck, Vicks, camphor cream or anything outside of our recommendations without first consulting your artist.
